My Power Of One actually turned into the Power Of Two, Philip Green and our daughter, Lorissa Green. I feel it is only fair to start at the beginning, the evening of August 31, 2008 when I received the worst news I would ever get and have to share with my children - their father had been in an ATV accident and didn't survive. As we stood over his silenced body, the nurse told the girls he had chosen to be an organ donor and that a young child was scheduled to receive sight. Immediately their mood changed from sorrow to being proud of him and a smile came over their faces. My middle daughter bent over kissed her dad and said "you will always be amazing to me; I can't wait for someone else to see the world through your eyes." I didn't really understand the significance of Philip's death until January 17, 2009. Lorissa was a beautiful sixteen year old girl who one night made a fatal mistake. She pulled out at a dangerous intersection and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. You see, five months prior when Lorissa lost her dad and was so proud of him for being an organ donor that she decided to do the same. She in a moment chose to follow in her dad's footsteps and give back life. She left several gifts behind for others, but the one that makes me the proudest was her gift of sight, and the one that makes me think how colorful the world must be for that lucky person. I hope they can see how amazing the Power of One can be.
